Today I was taking care of my garden. And I found Shepherd´s purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) growing around.
I was fascinated by the small pockets, were you can find the seeds. So I took it with me and brought it into the studio.
I started to sketch it with watercolor and ink – which was a lot of fun.
Reading more about this interesting plant, it turned out, that in the past people used the seeds as a pepper substitute. In Asia the Shepherd´s purse is still used in the kitchen. It is still also used in the traditional medicine as a blood-stopper.
